Your son or daughter feels pressure to find the perfect college major and career.
And of course, everyone has advice:
“They shouldn’t major in that. They’ll never get a job!”
“If they study this in school, they’ll make lots of money. Trust me.”
“They work there?! What are their long-term plans?”
You’re tired of this unwanted advice, but at the same time, your college student lacks direction and you dread them choosing the wrong path.
I understand because I’ve been where your college student is. I’m a first-generation college student who changed majors several times. Indecision, lack of direction, and fear of failure have been close friends of mine. Despite my winding path, I have found a profession that excites and fulfills me.
A sense of purpose in work is inextricable from our personal fulfillment, and I can provide actionable strategies to help your college student identify what will bring them meaning and satisfaction to thrive. I’ve worked at distinguished institutions like Rice University and Purdue University for over nine years, partnering with students and young professionals as they strive to understand their interests and abilities, explore college majors and potential careers, and make a strategy for flourishing in the working world.
Often when exploring college majors and careers, we feel overwhelmed by all the possibilities and trying to find that “perfect” fit. At the same time, it’s difficult to put the opinions of others and the pressures of the outside world on hold. That’s what I offer. Your college student can walk through my door, put the “you should” and “you shouldn’t” messages on hold, and explore who they are and who they want to become.

EXPLORE: During this stage, we’ll bring life to your student’s career possibilities through research and reflection, combing through reliable and up-to-date career resources, rank ordering top career options, identifying core themes, and processing each pathway.
PLAN: We’ll delve into research and make a detailed plan on how to connect with people in your student’s areas of interest. I’ll provide them with resources to make this process seamless, from sample email drafts to questions to ask professionals, along with a system to keep all the information organized in one place.
